Perfect Smile Solutions & Prices, for People in their 30s

Posted in Before & After Pictures, Beverly Hills, celebrity dentist, Cosmetic Dentist, Cosmetic Dentistry, Dental Bonding, Dentist, Los Angeles, Porcelain Inlays & Onlays, White Filling on October 25th, 2010 by admin

If you are at your thirties, minor adjustments to your teeth and smile  might be all you needing , to have that perfect, spectacular smile.

Chances are that you still might be having those silver, or mercury fillings from your teens, a simple solution would be to replace them with tooth colored fillings. If they are small replace it with white fillings, and if large replace them with porcelain inlays /onlays. Porcelain inlays and onlays generally leak less , they last you much longer than white fillings, and with stand the forces of your bite better.

Price of white fillings ranges between $550-$1000 per tooth, and prices for porcelain inlays/onlays range from $2000-$3500 per tooth.

If you do have minor overcrowding of your teeth, a quick fix , can be Cosmetic Contouring by a Cosmetic Dentist, this subtle shaping procedure , is usually recommended for slightly uneven or longer teeth, and can usually be accomplished in one visit.

The price for dental cosmetic contouring, or cosmetic contouring of smile line procedure ranges from $100-$400 per tooth, up to $4500 -$5000  for the entire Smile.

If you do have minor gaps, chipped,  decayed,  broken tooth, or tooth sensitivity at the roots (near your gums), you might consider Dental Bonding , or Tooth Bonding, to fix your problem. Dental bonding is instantly, and is a one visit procedure.

The price for Dental bonding ranges from $750- $2000 per tooth depending on the severity and what your bite or xrays shows.

I recommend a comprehesive examination, and evaluation with your cosmetic dentist , to gather necessary information needed.Usually cosmetic dentist needs complete xrays, impressions of your teeth (study models), bite analysis , intra oral photos of your teeth, and measurements of your gums and teeth , to come up with proper diagnosis and discuss different options of treatment for you.

The price for complete  dental evaluation can range from $750-$1500.

Dental problems if be prevented at an early age , saves you tremendous time, stress , and money  due to serious major treatment you could have avoided at your early age. I do recommend two to three cleaning yearly and check ups.

If you do have any questions, please do not hesitate to call 310-550-0383 for a one on one consultation with Dr. Anthony Mobasser .

DENTAL EMERGENCIES TIPS

Posted in Aesthetic Dentistry, Cosmetic Dentist, Dental Bonding, dental cosmetics, Dentist, Full Mouth Reconstruction, Porcelain, Porcelain Inlays & Onlays, smile, TMD, TMJ on August 5th, 2010 by admin

Lets face it, accidents can happen, and especially when it comes to our teeth, SMILE and mouths, they can be pretty frightening. Being careful is good a prevention, but being prepared makes you confident about and possible oral health emergency. Its important to know when home care will suffice and when a trip to the dentist is necessary. If you are ever in the situation that makes you feel like you need to speak with your dentist, call the office, your dentist should provide a day to night time number. If you call during non-business hours, voicemail will give instructions about how to reach the on-call dentist. With that in mind, here are some guidlines to help you through common situations:

Toothache/Sore Gums: Rinse with warm water to remove any food or debris; if you notice anything lodged between teeth, floss to remove it. Take an over the counter pain medication (but never apply the medication directly to teeth or gum), see the dentist if the pain persists.

Chipped or Broken Tooth: Save the pieces, if you can, rinse them thoroughly. Apply an ice pack or cold compress to the swollen lip or gum tissue near the chipped tooth to prevent swelling. If the area is bleeding, apply gauze for ten minutes, or until the bleeding has stopped. Call your cosmetic dentist immediately. You can possibly have a dental bonding , porcelain inlay or porcelain onlay treatment done to salvage your tooth.

With recent advancements in full mouth dentistry and cosmetic dentistry, you might not lose your tooth. If there’s enough remaining healthy tooth structure, there are several treatment options that may eliminate the need for root removal. While the success of these procedures depends on the severity of the break, it’s worth asking about options other than complete removal. I highly recommend you contact your cosmetic dentist.

Knocked Out Tooth: Depending on the situation, find the tooth, make sure not to hold it by the root, and rinse it briefly with warm water. If possible, gently reinsert the tooth into the socket and bite down on gauze or cloth to keep it in place. If you cannot reinsert it, place it in a container of milk or mild salt water solution. Call your cosmetic dentist as soon as possible-if treated within 2 hours, the tooth may be salvaged.

Soft Tissue Injuries: Soft tissues such as gums, cheek, lips, and the tongue tend to bleed heavily, only because the tissue contains a great deal of blood flow. To control the bleeding, first rinse with warm, mild salt water solution. Apply pressure with gauze or a moistened towel for 15 to 20 minutes. Afterwards, to reduce swelling and help stop residual bleeding, apply a cold compress to the outside of your mouth. In the event of a serious soft tissue injury, in which the bleeding is profuse or the damage is visibly traumatic, its best to stay calm, keep applying pressure, and go to the emergency room.

TEETH WHITENING & TEETH BLEACHING PRODUCTS AND SAFETY

Los Angeles Cosmetic Dentist
“Los Angeles Cosmetic Dentistry is the finest, most advanced in the world. In a city with thousands of movie stars, moguls, sports heroes and a million TV cameras, nowhere is it more important to have a dazzling, bright, perfect smile.”Please contact Los Angeles cosmetic dentist Dr. Anthony Mobasser at 310.550.0383 or Anthony@celebritydentist.com if you would like to set up an appointment to improve your smile.

Tooth whitening products  are  available for home use to remove external stains by abrasion or by bleaching teeth. Their safety and effectiveness vary according to the type used.

Kits that contain abrasive agents can give you a white celebrity smile initially by removing surface stains, but they can be harmful over the long run because they accelerate the natural aging process, in which the enamel of teeth is slowly worn away to reveal the yellow dentin behind it, or can cause recessions on gums (meaning the roots will be exposed) and consequently cause TOOTH ABFRACTION on the roots of teeth concurrent with sensitivity to cold and air.

It is of utmost importance to have the abfraction checked by the COSMETIC DENTIST ,so the sensitivity be stopped. there is various treatment that can help further breakdown and abfraction of the roots, including but not limited to, DENTAL BONDING, or possibly DENTAL VENEERS or LUMINEERS.

iF YOU DO HAVE ANY EXISTING SENSIVITY ,I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT TO DO ANY TEETH WHITENING OR BLEACHING OF TEETH ,till all the  necessary treatment for the sensitivity is rendered.

Teeth bleaching or TOOTH WHITENING PRODUCTS,are usually carbomide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide derivitives, and of course with different concentration. In my opinion you should be screened for your gums, root sensitivity, any micro cracks, microleakage possibly from your fillings , or abfractions by a dentist before you put whitening and bleaching products in your mouth.

In summary I highly advise you to have a full check up and consultation with an EXPERT COSMETIC DENTIST, before you do any kind of teeth whitening, to avoid further damage to your precious teeth and smile.

All you wanted to know about PORCELAIN VENEERS aka dental veneers,or LAMINATES, or DENTAL LAMINATES.
What Are Veneers?

Veneers are thin, custom-made FACING OR LAMINATES that cover the fronts of unsightly teeth. They are crafted from tooth-colored, high-tech materials to portray a natural, bright smile.VENEERS can be made of porcelain or composite material.

How Long Will Veneers Last?

Veneers are intended to last for many years , DEPENDING on patient’s bite, parafunctional habits (clenching or grinding ) , and the necessary preventative dental visits needed. Unlike most bonding materials, (which is porous hence prone to stains ) porcelain veneers will not change color over time. You should consult cosmetict dentist to find out how long veneers will last in your particular mouth.

How Are Veneers Applied?

The tooth is reshaped and contoured initially to allow for the added thickness of the veneer. THIS IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VENEERS AND LUMINEERS. With Lumineers typically no tooth structure is removed ,however the added porcelain on the tooth without removing any tooth structure initially, will result in a BULKIER OR THICKER OUTCOME.So for DENTAL VENEER a molded image is taken of the reshaped tooth and sent to a dental laboratory where the veneer is custom-made to fit your mouth. The veneer is applied with adhesive material which bonds it to the original tooth structure.VENEERS SHOULD NOT BE CEMENTED TO THE TOOTH RATHER BONDED TO THE TOOTH,so it becomes one with the reshaped tooth.

Advantages of Veneers

Tooth-Like Appearance
Since veneers are individually sculpted for each patient, it is nearly impossible to tell the difference between a veneer and a natural tooth, however depending on the skill of the cosmetic dentist and the ceramist ,multicolor porcelain layers can be incorporated to each hand crafted veneer,to transform your smile ,to the awsome smile you desire.

High Stain-Resistant
Custom-made veneers resist stains from coffee, tea and cigarette smoke because they are made of high-tech, extremely polishable glass material, the porcelain material resist stain ,much better than composite material ,in which is more porous.

Benefits of Veneers

• A minimal amount of the natural tooth must be altered to fit the veneer.

• Veneers can be matched to make even the darkest teeth appear to be bright white.

• Minor twists and overlaps, as well as small gaps, can be quickly corrected through the use of porcelain veneers.

Celebrity Smile Analysis: Tom Cruise

Los Angeles Cosmetic Dentist Dr. Anthony Mobasser has performed thousands of smile makeovers since 1980. In that time, he has worked with a multitude of celebrities from around the globe, helping give them smiles that are the envy of the world. With his trained, artistic eye, he can instantly recognize what makes a smile so dazzling or identify what can be done to turn an average smile into a dazzling work of art.

Below are some of his thoughts on today’s celebrity smiles.

Tom Cruise . He has a wonderful, world-famous smile, but there are some things he could do to improve it. A combination of gum line pink bonding on the upper right canine tooth, and a thin porcelain veneers on the upper right side could give him a fuller smile. My philosophy is to keep your teeth for the rest of your life and use the most conservative minimal procedure possible when it comes to veneers. My suggestion to him is to add (not remove) a combination of bonding and porcelain veneers.

Answers to Commonly Asked Questions

Cosmetic dentistry is growing in popularity every day. If you’re looking at having some cosmetic dental treatment done on your smile, no doubt you have many questions. Herewith we provide some answers.

COSMETIC DENTISTRY PROCEDURES
Many options are available these days, including permanent whitening, reshaping and contouring of the smile line, porcelain veneers (dental veneers) and more. Read our “procedures” articles for more details. You also may want to visit our “Services” site.

COSMETIC DENTAL COSTS
As with most customer services, the cost varies depending on the time required and the complexity of the dental cosmetic procedure. Creating your smile makeover may require a combination of the services listed above. The best way to determine price is to consult a Los Angeles cosmetic dentist as Dr. Anthony Mobasser. Keep in mind cosmetic dentistry is an investment in both your personal and professional future.

COSMETIC DENTISTRY BENEFITS
Surveys show 98 percent of Americans believe a person with a beautiful smile is more successful, more intelligent, more attractive, and much more. A great smile also makes patients feel more confident and ensures your teeth are healthy.

TIMELINE TO COMPLETE YOUR COSMETIC DENTISTRY
How many visits will it take to improve your smile? The timeline varies for each person, depending on the amount of work required. Some procedures can be completed in one or two visits. More extensive work may require up to six visits. Due to Dr. Mobasser’s expertise, rest assured that your cosmetic dentistry will be performed with the highest quality possible in the shortest amount of time. Whereas many cosmetic dentists require up to 10 visits to complete cosmetic dentistry procedures, Dr. Mobasser requires only two in most cases. The need for a complete, comprehensive evaluation and consultation is a must prior to starting treatment. Undergoing smile makeover may sound daunting, but the ease with which Los Angeles cosmetic dentist Dr. Anthony Mobasser performs his procedures, you’ll wonder why you didn’t start the treatment sooner. You are going to love your new smile!

APPEARANCE
Dr. Mobasser will collaborate with you to create the look you desire. He can create a smile enhancement that looks both natural and dramatic. Using photographs and models, Dr. Mobasser can show you how you’ll look with your new smile. In some cases, he can place trial materials (dental mockup) directly over your existing teeth so you can view the final results immediately.

LONGEVITY

Your makeover will last for many years if you practice good dental oral hygiene. This includes brushing, flossing, and preventive visits. Please note each patient requires different preventative visits in which Dr. Mobasser will let you know ahead of time due to plaque buildup, your past medical history, your past dental history, enzymes in your saliva, and the genetic factors relating to plaque buildup. Some patients may need checkups every 2-4 months, every 6 months, or every 12 months, depending on the plaque buildup.

COSMETIC DENTISTRY AND YOUR DENTAL INSURANCE
Not all dental insurance plans cover cosmetic dentistry. If they do, they will reimburse only a portion of the treatment. We can check in advance (after a complete analysis of your dental health) if your insurance does cover cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Mobasser can arrange a payment structure to best suit your needs.

TOOTH WHITENING
Please note many people are concerned that teeth whitening will damage their tooth enamel and cause permanent teeth sensitivity. On the contrary, teeth whitening causes no damage to your enamel. However, if you have gum disease, gum recession, or your roots are exposed, teeth whitening is not recommended due to causing severe sensitivity on the rooth of the tooth. In some cases that has been irreversible. That is why Beverly Hills cosmetic dentist Dr. Mobasser says that is pertinent to have a compelte evaluation before starting teeth whitening procedures. Dr. Mobasser does not recommend you use over-the-counter whitening products before you have complete examination and evaluation for root sensitivity and root recessions to avoid further damage.

While you may experience some sensitivity during the whitening process and for a brief time afterwards, the sensitivity should fade within one to two days following the procedure.

Los Angeles Cosmetic Dentist Offers Advice on Selecting the Appropriate Colors for Porcelain Veneers

Posted in Beverly Hills, Beverly Hills Cosmetic Dentist, Cosmetic Dentist, Cosmetic Dentistry, Crowns, Dental Bonding, Full Mouth Reconstruction, Los Angeles, Los Angeles Cosmetic Dentist, Lumineers, Porcelain Veneers, Smile Makeover, TMD, TMJ on July 1st, 2009 by dranthonymobasser

Patients interested in porcelain veneers often wonder how white the veneers should be.

Teeth are not monochromatic, so using a variety of shades yields a natural look, said Dr. Anthony Mobasser, a Los Angeles dentist who specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry.

Some Background

First let’s address the obvious question and define porcelain veneers.

A porcelain veneer is a thin sheet of porcelain that can be affixed to the surface of a tooth to improve smiles by covering chipped, broken, stained or misshaped teeth. Porcelain is usually thought of as a delicate material, but when bonded to a tooth, it is incredibly strong and durable.

Selecting a Veneer Shade

Mobasser recommends patients undergo a teeth whitening treatment to whiten their natural teeth prior to placing porcelain veneers. Because veneers are extremely thin, a tooth that is dark or deeply stained could provide a shading effect once the veneers are affixed that causes the finished product to be darker than desired.

Why not choose a thicker porcelain veneer?

“The translucency of porcelain veneers gives them the ability to mimic natural tooth enamel and creates a natural appearance,” Mobasser said.

Using more than one color in making the veneers also provides variation and avoids teeth looking fake or artificial. Eye teeth tend to be darker than the others, while front teeth typically are the whitest. Molars most often are a shade between the two.

Another important factor to consider is the surface texture of porcelain veneers, Mobasser said. Adequate texture helps to break up light reflections and make the veneer look more natural.

There is no one standard system in the dental field to measure and determine tooth color, according to (http://www.aboutcosmeticdentistry.com/procedures/tooth_veneers/veneer_color) www.aboutcosmeticdentistry.com. The most often heard about, however, is the Vita shade guide. This guide divides tooth color into four basic shade ranges:

A (reddish brown)
B (reddish yellow)
C (gray)
D (reddish gray).

In the A range there are five levels of darkness. Ranges B, C and D each have four levels.

“When I evaluate a patient for porcelain veneers, I am concerned with getting the optimum results,” Mobasser said. “In addition to considering the color of the patient’s natural teeth, I also evaluate their complexion, hair color, and to some extent, their eye color. It is important to me that a feature as dominant as a smile compliments all of their other facial features.”

Porcelain Veneers Change Smiles in Just Two Visits

Posted in Beverly Hills, Cosmetic Dentist, Cosmetic Dentistry, Crowns, Dental Bonding, Full Mouth Reconstruction, Los Angeles, Lumineers, Porcelain Veneers, TMD, TMJ on July 1st, 2009 by dranthonymobasser

The numbers say it all: Three out of four adults in the United States believe an unattractive smile can hurt your professional and personal lives. As the saying goes, “Smile and the whole world smiles with you

Uneven, chipped or discolored teeth are the easiest dental flaws to spot. The application of porcelain veneers , however, can replace those flaws with assets.

While no cosmetic dentistry procedure can take the place of good oral and periodontal hygiene, porcelain veneers can give you a youthful and dazzling smile.

A porcelain veneer is a thin shell of porcelain that fits over any damaged, discolored, or misshaped teeth. There are several advantages to this procedure:

• The color, translucence and texture of veneers is very similar to your natural tooth enamel.

• Porcelain is an extremely durable material.

• It resists staining and isn’t susceptible to decay

• Veneers can effectively close gaps between your teeth, lengthen and reshape teeth.

Dr. Anthony Mobasser, known as the Aesthetic dentist to the Stars,” will begin by discussing with you the changes you’d like to make in your appearance. He’ll fully explain your various options, the procedure, and its risks and limitations. You’ll also learn about the type of anesthesia required and the details of your fees.

The procedure begins with roughening and shaping your existing teeth, to remove part of the tooth enamel. This allows for a better bonding, while creating room for placement of the veneer.

Once shaping is completed, Dr. Mobasser will take an impression of your teeth, to be used in creating your customized veneers. He also may recommend applying a temporary veneer to protect your teeth until the next step.

At your next appointment, Dr. Mobasser will test your veneers to make sure they are the right fit, size and color. If needed, he may further shape or trim the veneers before the final fitting. He’ll then permanently bond the porcelain veneer to your teeth with a composite-resin cement.

The best candidates for porcelain veneers:

  • Enjoy good oral health
  • Wish to improve their appearance
  • Are fully informed on the procedure’s outcome
  • Have realistic expectations
