Besides the width of the tooth being %75 to %80 of the length,we also have a measurement generally to find out, what the length of the upper front tooth should be. How ? The cosmetic dentist or the Esthetic Dentist performing smile makeover should measure from the depth of the vestibule to the incisal edge of the front tooth, that measurement is usually around 22 milimeters (mm).,for ideal length of the upper front tooth,in which dictates your smile makeover initial stage.
Every patient should know that lighter teeth ,reveal bigger teeth, and darker teeth reveal smaller teeth! so just by teeth whitening, (bleaching teeth ),placing porcelain laminates or having porcelain veneers done ,automatically your teeth will look bigger and eventually your smile will be more zygomatic.
Because of this point mentioned ,i generally do not recommend having 6 teeth veneered ,or 6 (dental veneers )done. Your canine teeth already are bigger and darker than the rest of your teeth,if the patient changes the color to a more whiter desired color ,those 6 teeth will stick out like a sore thumb, and hides the rest of teeth, specially when you are looking at the smile from the side (the back teeth will look much smaller).
Having said that, it is vital that your cosmetic dentist ,plans your smile makeover by taking various photos and study models ,to plan the final outcome of your tratment.

Full Mouth Reconstruction,Restoration, smile makeover, proportions of teeth

Posted in Esthetic Dentist, Esthetic Dentistry, Full Mouth Reconstruction, Smile Makeover, golden proportions on April 24th, 2010 by admin

Before commencing full mouth reconstruction, the esthetic dentist should have the end in mind.,meaning the desired smile according to the wants of the patient. There are certain principles that I have discovered that works extremely well in my Privte cosmetic dental practice.

IT IS MY PROFESSIONAL OPINION AFTER YEARS OF PRACTCE AND EXTENSIVE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT, that one’s awsome smile is all about golden proportions and ratio’s.

On  each individual tooth the width to length ratio is extremely important,as a general rule the width of your front tooth should be approximately 75% to 80% of the length of your tooth, meaning teeth should not look like a square (meaning short stubby tooth, or a chicklette) or a long rectangle (meaning long skinny tooth).

Did you know actually that the width of  your front tooth should be approximately 1/16  the width of your face!

When performing  smilemakeover,it is important how your teeth fit in space, and in relation to the lips ,  to bring about a dream smile .For instance when saying “E”,in an ideal situation ,2/3  the length of your upper teeth should show, and the upper teeth should follow the curve of the lower teeth in space, and be following the curve of lower lip.

Mother’s Gum Disease is Linked To Stillborn Death

Posted in Cosmetic Dentist, Cosmetic Dentist Los Angeles, Dentist, Gum Disease, Los Angeles, Los Angeles Cosmetic Dentist, gingivitis, priodontal disease on April 23rd, 2010 by admin

There is a direct link between preterm labor and gum disease (Periodontal Disease) in pregnant woman.A study showed  that oral bacteria associated with a mother’s periodontal disease was connected to the death of fetus.

the pregnant mother had experienced exessive bleeding of the gums (in which 75% ofpregnant woman experience due to hormonal changes) which allowed  a bacteria (fusobacterium nucleatum) to travel from the mouth in to her blood stream and eventually into placenta.Post-mortem the same bacteria was found in the baby’s lungs, and stomach, and the final report stated thatdeath was due to a septic infection and the inflammation caused by that bacteria!!

The testing strongly suggested that the bacteria were delivered through the blood!!!

As  a dentist in los angeles ,i am encouaging women who are pregnant,or wish to become pregnant ,to maintain great oral hygiene, and visit their dentist and report any excessve gum bleeding immediately.

As a cosmetic dentist a word of advice : do your yearly full mouth evaluation ,including periodontal charting, and possibly xrays to avoid unwanted problems,!there has been proven link between  untreated gum disease or periodontal disease ,with systemic conditions ,related to the heart and lungs among others.

Porcelain Veneers Cost? , per Tooth,& Smile

Posted in Aesthetic Dentistry, Cosmetic Dentist, Cosmetic Dentistry, Dental Veneers, Dentist, Porcelain, White Teeth on April 21st, 2010 by admin

That pearly smile far outweighs the cost of the porcelain veneers!!
Porcelain Veneers cost from $1000 to $5000 per tooth.
Usually they last from 7 to 15 years, although i have some patients i have placed them on 26 years ago,and still doing great.
the cost factor depends on:
1.artistic eye and ability of the cosmetic dentist who performs the procedure.
2.The artistic hands of the master ceramist fabricating the porcelain veneer.
3.The time of delivery of the Dental Veneer.
4.The combination of porcelain materials used.
5.The number of teeth being done.,generally speaking the cost is less per tooth ,if patient chooses to do the entire smile.
6.The location of cosmetic dentist.
7.The severity of the case, i.e the original  tooth color, shape ,the existing bite, and amount of enamel remaining, and the adjacent teeth in proximity to the tooth needing veneer.
Every porcelain veneer is different, just like every painting is different!
Although porcelain veneers can be pricey, you usually get what you pay for,and the benefits far outweighs the cost.

Porcelain Veneers (Dental Veneers) vs Crowns

 A word of advice! When it comes to smile makeover,or new cosmeticdentistry  procedure;

It is my opinion to stay conservative as much as possible ,when it comes to tooth removal!!
once your tooth is cut, the  g-d given tooth structure is gone.
Dental crowns usually require 360 degree preperation,i.e all around the tooth,vs veneer or dental veneer require at MOST 180 degree preperation, meaning the in side if your tooth is not even touched, meaning less tooth structure is removed, therefore your teeth are not weakend as much as a crown preperation (porcelain cap).
Due to above facts, if there is any debate to do porcelain veneers vs. porcelain crowns ,it is always best to do veneers, (laminates)!!
You can always go from porcelain veneer to porcelain crown or cap!!,but you can never go from a crown to veneer!!
remember this!!

Smile Makeover in Los Angeles & Beverly Hills

Posted in Aesthetic Dentistry, Beverly Hills, Cosmetic Dentist, Cosmetic Dentist Beverly Hills, Cosmetic Dentist Los Angeles, Cosmetic Dentistry, Dentist, Extreme Makeover, Los Angeles, Smile Makeover on April 15th, 2010 by admin

My goal in smile makeover is to create perfection and beauty by fusing science and art!
Smile makeover, or Cosmetic lift, makes the individual more complete, more energized, and  the feeling of bliss!!
the Cosmetic Dentist must have the end result already pictured in his thoughts and then bring it to reality via his artistic and clinical skills.
Of course taking the time to hear  the patients needs and wants is the first step to completing the treatment.
My initial cosmetic dental consultation consists of gathering records, taking photographs, and having in depth conversation about what patients needs are?then i can fulfill their desire, whether it is restorative, cosmetic or combination of both.
My biggest priority to treating patients is to give it my very best!and my patient the very best experience.
