Feb. 19, 2007, Los Angeles and Beverly Hills - All brides want a perfect wedding day with the perfect weather, perfect dress; perfect groom and now, a perfect smile.
A study released by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry revealed 96 percent of adults believe a beautiful smile makes you more appealing to members of the opposite sex. Even more intriguing, the AACD study found a staggering 96 percent of patients requesting cosmetic dentistry are women. Of course, not all the women are preparing for their big day. More and more these days, however, a spin in the dentist's chair is becoming a regular part of wedding-day prep.
Brides-to-be should to consider the following guidelines when selecting a cosmetic dentist.
Ask to see before and after photographs of the dentist's actual patients.
Ask for references. Top cosmetic dentists are proud to share the names of patients who are happy with their makeovers.
Ask how the dentist keeps up-to-date with the latest techniques and technology.
Consider whether you and your dentist are a good personality fit.
Have your dentist completes a comprehensive exam before beginning any work.
In drawing up a makeover plan, make sure your dentist considers all aspects of dental health, including gum disease, tooth decay, overall oral function and the longevity of the planned treatment.
You also may want to ask if your cosmetic dentist offers package deals. After all, when it comes to beautiful smiles, the bride isn't the only one who can wear white.
